Heritage Building Sites

Data Integration Project

Town of Banff is a municipality of approximately 9000 people that lies within Banff National Park. Established in 1885, Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park and has a rich and vibrant cultural and natural history, recognized globally by the United Nations, which designated the area of the Canadian Rockies as a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site in 1984.

The Historical Resources Act empowers the Town of Banff to formally recognize and legally protect heritage resources of local significance through designation as Municipal Historic Resources. With this in mind, the Town of Banff is reliant on having accurate and up to date information about its heritage resources.

Front Point Consulting worked closely with the Town of Banff to develop an FME process for integration of spatial parcel data with tabular and file-based historic building site data to create a comprehensive, spatially aware, single source of truth for the Town's historic building sites.
