Data Integration Solution

WSP is a globally-recognized professional services firm employing approximately 49,000 people. Front Point Consulting partnered with WSP Canada to implement the Field to Finish (F2F) project.

Having access to project-critical data from the office at all times means efficient communication and project management, as well as minimal errors and timeline overruns. The F2F project defined an approach to surveying that included the development and use of custom GIS tools and applications that allow this level of project knowledge and, combined with advancing technology and field-to-finish data management, enables WSP to deliver results with unparalleled accuracy and efficiency. This provides competitive advantage for WSP and lower cost and time to delivery for clients.

Front Point Consulting was instrumental in providing key architectural and technical advise for the data integrations between Trimble InSphere, Bentley ProjectWise and the corporate GIS system.

To deliver on this technical solution, Front Point Consulting:

  • installed and configured FME Server and advised on general FME architecture;

  • developed FME workspaces, published to FME Server, to manage submission and retrieval of documents for a given project in ProjectWise / InSphere;

  • developed a suite of custom FME transformers to interface with the Trimble InSphere REST API;

  • developed a suite of custom FME transformers to interface with the Bentley ProjectWise REST API;

  • developed a custom SOAP service using the ProjectWise C++ SDK, to enhance the capabilities of the REST API for object retrieval/submission;

  • developed a custom web interface built on the ArcGIS Server Javascript API / Dojo libraries.
