This visual nature of the workflows and intuitive understanding leads to reduced development times and maintenance costs. Adhering to some basic best practices can also make them self-documenting.
However, don’t let their simple appearance fool you. The power of FME for ETL solutions is unsurpassed and even the most die-hard coders rarely fail to be impressed by its abilities.
FME workflows are also portable and platform independent. Workflows developed in FME Desktop can be deployed to FME Server to take advantage of its enterprise capabilities, and can also be run on other FME Desktop instances on any of the supported operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux).
